Why do I never, ever learn? Anti-acne cosmetics are shit. They are always shit, they will always BE shit. When a sales associate tries to sell me one, I will have to return it, because it's expensive shit.

For some reason yesterday, I caved. "Oh I guess it won't be that bad, and it is a much better color than Smashbox's green primer...."

No, the anti-acne primer:

1) makes my skin feel tight, dry, and flaky

2) it's so greasy it feels like I'm wearing a thick 70 SPF sunscreen.

So now I have to return it. I know I can, but I hate doing it because I've opened it already.

Why do I never learn my lesson? Okay, I usually don't fall for this stuff, because I never will forget the Macy's sales associate that made 17-year-old me cry because she insisted I use a watery anti-acne foundation that didn't offer any coverage (I couldn't use normal foundation because I "needed" the anti-acne stuff). I knew back then that if the endless rounds of medications, diet changes, and lifestyle changes couldn't help, the foundation wouldn't, and by God couldn't she just give me something that would allow me to walk around and look normal? Do people really have to spend so much time moralizing about my skin?

I went for it this time because I liked the color, and the salicylic acid content was pretty low. I should know by now that salicylic acid is one of those things I should never, ever leave on my face in any amount. Though apparently a yellow primer is exactly what I need, so at least that was a good idea. But ugh this one felt so disgusting, I had to go wash it off after ten minutes and my face still feels like a too-tight mask. I'm so tired of people selling me anti-acne crap. I just want to cover up the redness on my face. Forget your snake oil. It's both too harsh and too ineffective.

Making your skin tight and dry and feeling greasy at the same time takes some talent!
