(no subject)
Aug. 29th, 2011 07:35 pmThis is going to be a hard semester, so don't expect to see much of me. You know, those of you who see me at all/ever, since it seems that most people aren't on gtalk/aim anymore and I don't post that much here.
I'm in five classes, which is obscene for the final year. I intended to drop one, but the only one I really had to drop was Florida Criminal Procedure and it's taught by a judge who is like... watching George Carlin for two hours. I couldn't drop that class, and I actually want to be in my other classes or need them for the bar: Marine Ecology (want), Art and Law (want), Copyright (want/need for personal reasons), Florida Constitutional Law (need for the bar). Three of those are evening classes: 5:00 - 8:00, 5:30 - 7:30, 4:00 - 7:00. Not bad, but so tired when I get home.
To top it off, I'm 40,000 words into swans, so I want to finish "The Fantastic Miss Jon Finds Her Fortune" by tomorrow and then devote September to finishing swans-- another 40,000 words. It's like a mini-nanowrimo for myself, but it's eminently do-able given my general output, particularly so early in the semester. I've got two more short stories awaiting completion and another waiting in the wings, but dammit, swans has been unfinished for way too long.
On the upside, next semester I should only have Trusts and Estates and my law review article/writing credit. I might also take Admiralty depending on how I feel and what my work schedule looks like.
Also: I bought Mass Effect from Steam. Then I couldn't play it. I tried all sorts of fixes, but eventually I had to contact tech support, which I dreaded since I'd heard so many stories of EA's tech support. After nearly two hours of escalations, the tech guy is like "okay, where is this file?" "I... I dunno! Oh I found the launcher!" "Okay, but what about the game?"
I've downloaded all of ME except for, apparently, the actual .exe file. We were both like "well there's the problem."
Then he said: "So I'll give you the Origins version of the game, and also I'm gonna give you a free game. What do you want?"
So, in short, now I have Mass Effect and DA2. Or rather, I'll have ME as soon as EA resolves its error in redeeming old CD codes, but law school + DA2 will surely keep me busy until then. And there you have it. A nice EA tech support story.
