Thought I'd let people know because there are some folks on my flist who are interested in fish: Petsmart is selling the Fluval Chi for $35, if you print out the page they'll price-match in-stores. I'm guessing because Hagen is coming out with their new Fluval line, which is how I got my Edge for $80. Hell, I'm considering it, if only to replace the busted old Angrydome, except... how can you get rid of something with a name like the Angrydome?

It's pretty cool if you want a nano aquarium-- the low filtration means you can't keep much in it, but the low flow is excellent for bettas because most small filters are too powerful for them, so my delta's tank has an ugly juryrigged black box with red rubber bands holding a sponge in front of the output. Could probably also keep guppies or a few other nano-fish-- there's more and more of them on the market every year.

I've also seen some planted chis, which look cool. I don't think nano tanks are as hard to keep as the internet makes them out to be. For anyone who's curious, it's the whole kit for not much money. After some experience with nano aquariums, I think the Fluval line is a decent deal in terms of cost vs. cheapness of construction, since for all their quirks they tend to look pricy/ritzy compared to others in the same price range, and there's nothing out there for $35 that isn't acrylic. After trying in vain to photograph through acrylic, I am vehemently in the pro-glass camp.
