Nov. 12th, 2012 09:58 amThe internet has made me accustomed to seeing whatever I want, when I want it. This is aided by the fact that I am rarely if ever overwhelmed with the need to see a mainstream movie right now.
A few days ago I was struggling with some castle scenes for swans, and realized I knew exactly what I needed to get voice and setting: The Lion in Winter.
Okay shut up it's not set in the same place or time but SHUT UP. It's a brilliant movie and if you haven't seen it go see it right now because I have never seen a battle of wits committed to screen of the same caliber before or since.
The problem with this plan: you can't find it. I googled in vain, and finally Netflix offered it to me, if I would but sign up. So I did, and it wasn't available on instant streaming, which Netflix only tells you after you make an account. They'll let you rent a DVD but I need to see it now! You can't even find a place to stream the movie!
So I ordered it from Amazon and pouted until it arrived.
And watched a lot of youtube videos on falconry. Because I decided there would be falconry in Queen of Swans because... I don't know. I learned that falconry is awesome and I kind of want to do it (except I won't because it requires 10 years of training and I am not really an animal person to begin with) and learned that hawks and merlins are actually kind of adorable, boppy things. Also that a hawk is probably safer to hold than a parrot. But I have had... experiences with macaws and approve of any bird that doesn't want to bite my face off.
