According to my buddy who went to WorldFantasyCon last weekend, the reading of "Amphitrite" drew laughter and applause-- and according to the comments to this overview of the book (see it if you want to know what the Steam-powered II stories are about!), this wasn't just the biased opinion of a friend of mine. People I've never spoken with before felt it was great, too! "SO GREAT," in fact! My story is out in the wild and people like it.

Then that same friend, [personal profile] teleidoplex, told me this: "I appear to already be hand-selling Swans. Malinda Lo and I chatted about it last night, and she was all 'omg, there's ttly a market. Tell her she has to finish.'"

Also, I have an authorial twitter to get in on the #steampunk chat last Friday, and all weekend advertisers have been following me. I don't really mind, but I'm a little baffled because why follow me if I never look at your feed? Sure, buff up my follower numbers, I guess. I don't really know what to do with twitter, because I felt like I couldn't say anything worthwhile in any given post. But twitter is the place to be, professionally. I need to take lessons from people who write concise posts on important matters. Otherwise my feed will be nothing but twitpics of fish and "omg I am freaking out because of job search/classes/writing/MALINDA LO."
