My bench came in last week. Yaaaay! I put it together, but it's still sitting in my living room because, though I paid for a weather proofing coat, it wasn't a sealant. Given that it's cedar, the last thing I need is to put it out for the birds to poop on. There is so much bird poop on my balcony that certain South American countries would go to war over it. It's such a pretty color that I don't want it spoiled, so I'm going to put a sealant on it as soon as I have a free moment. Haha, delusional of me, I know.

This morning, an email from management went out, that said, among other things: "CIGARETTE BUTTS" We have had numerous reports from the lower units experiencing damages to their property and have also expressed concerns for their safety. This problem not only causes damages to the property but is also extremely dangerous and could cause harm to other residents and children. We are asking everyone to please cooperate by not disposing of cigarette butts from the balconies.

...Oh right. A bunch of people have gotten hurt by things thrown off balconies (one woman got hit in the head by a bottle) or had their things burned by people throwing cigarette butts off their balconies. I should know, because I have to pick them up (but not as often as I used to).

And I'm putting an expensive (for me) cedar bench on my uncovered balcony.
