damselfish: (Otohime)

Finished the second draft of my article for law review, rewrote it completely so it's brand-spanking new, and 31 pages long.* That paper was brutal, comparable to my 85 page thesis rather than any other similar-length paper I've written. The final paper for class is due the 19th. In between that is spring break.

I fired off the paper and sat back in my chair going, "what the hell do I do now?" I can scarcely wrap my head around it, my brain is so slushy. Everyone comes to Miami for spring break, it's my last spring break, WHAT DO I DO!? I gotta take advantage of it. Somehow.

In lieu of a useful post, here is one of the coolest videos of humpbacks I've ever seen:

*It's full of rage so hopefully the egregious nature of the threats-that-aren't-legally-threats-because-the-law-is-ridiculous shines through. It's weird being on this side of an argument because I'm generally a first amendment proponent, like RAAAAH ALL FIRST AMENDMENT ALL THE TIME, but in doing my research I learned one big thing: most free speech proponents are massive dicks and largely white dudes whining about their right to say unconscionable shit they really don't need to have the right to say. They'd never say it! They just want it to be open to them. In case there is ever a need to send death and rape threats to someone. In the future. There are compellings arguments for not banning speech. "MAH FREEDOMS are more important than your ability to navigate the world without fear of being murdered" is not one of them. Seriously, commercials are low value speech and most of us are okay with that. No one has been able to explain why a threat has more value than a Purina commercial.
