Writing Stiff

So I told myself that this week I would finish a bunch of short stories I've had lingering around so next week (fall break) I could dive into Swans and try to get 10,000 words done.

I'm pleased with my progress. As od today I've finished:

"Pirates of Rouketopolemos"
"Dee and the Sphinx Do a Good Deed"
"The Fantastic Miss Jon Finds Her Fortune"

A friend also recommended I clean up and try selling "Demoiselle," a bit of flash fiction I wrote back in 2009, possibly to Daily Science Fiction.

That still leaves "Bellerophon," "Knight and Turnkey," "Fuck You, Magic Fish" (working title courtesy of teleidoplex), and a nameless story about a cyborg, a programmer, and the director of the risk management department on a boat to be finished, but you do what you can.

Anyway, they're mostly rough first drafts, but is anyone on my flist interested in reading one or two and telling me if they're crap or not? I've got my eye on selling some of them* and I feel like I'm overworking my three buddies who are the usual suspects for beta-ing. I've also got "Ship With No Name" I wrote early this summer that I'm hoping to unload it somewhere.

*Not "Pirates of Rouketopolemos," that was just a silly desire to throw a bunch of Space Noir characters together in a space battle with paintball guns but more importantly, it meant I got another 5,000 words of Dom and Ren being Dudes. But I guess I can share that too if people want. For the Dudes. I didn't even know Ren could be a Dude because he's mostly quiet and suspiciously pensive, but Dom brings it out in everyone. Even the women.
