They're pretty late, but whatever. Ski pictures! As usual, I went skiing in Deer Valley, which is one of my family's favorite places. I'd like to try Snow Basin or Solitude, personally, but Deer Valley offers a lot of amenities that I doubt most of my family can do without (like a shuttle service).

I got ski boots this year, which might be the best investment I have ever made. I have small feet, and I've looked for boots but I was between women's sizes and children's and thus couldn't find a boot. Then, like magic, we're in Jan's and while waiting for my mom to do something (she lives there, pretty much, fixing her boots, skis, goggles... you name it, if she has it, it needs work) I ask the guy "so! Can you fit me?" I'm sure the answer is no. Not only did he fit me... he got me boots in a size smaller than anticipated. I'm skiing in size 4 boots, you guys.

This is the view from the condo we stayed at-- Bristlecone. We always stay across the field from the mountain base. It isn't as close as some other places, but it's less expensive (we had three bedrooms + a loft for seven people), the view is pretty, and there's a shuttle on top of a bus. You can't really get much better than that without ski in/ski out.

View off Homeward Bound-- it's probably one of my favorite views for the way the clouds roll in, and on clear days you can see a town glittering in the valley. It's also hell to get a picture of thanks to the fence and the orange boundary lines. Those lines are in a bunch of my pictures. Boo.

A view of Flagstaff Mountain off of Dakota from Empire-- the only open run off my favorite mountain that's open this season. Womp. I can't wait to be employed so I can go skiing later in the season. We went before Christmas instead of over New Year's this year, which is slightly less crowded (according to locals it's really crowded though? idk) but the snow was seriously lackluster.

Really lackluster! It made for some gorgeous views, though. I've never seen things look so... brown. This is off Jordanelle, looking at the Jordanelle reservoir, I'm pretty sure. While on this trip I heard from a business man that Utah is the place to be for business. What was I in school for? "Law. I wanna do land use." "Man, we need you!" So I stopped in the Prudential real estate office at the top of Deer Crest because my mom called (she tore her ACL :o) and while there I asked the real estate guy about land use. "All the good ones are either retiring or senile. There's definitely a need!"

So... I'm looking into practicing law in Utah. Before you go "so conservative!", SLC has a dyke bar. Miami doesn't have a lesbian bar, but Salt Lake does. Park City is a consistently blue town. The state's conservative, yeah, but so is Florida. And I'd make more money doing essentially the same thing.

There was a blizzard one day, which improved conditions but not by much. It was cold.

View of Northside Lodge, from Dakota again.

Pocket Healer didn't believe that I was skiing. It was too hard to imagine, she said, me being from a beach city in the south. I said I couldn't take a picture since I ski alone, and anyway you'd never know it was me! I tried anyway, though.

Down toward Silver Strike Express/Lodge. I'd never been this way before, so I have no idea if it's new or I'm oblivious. This is off Silver Buck, I think?

I have tons more, I'm seriously considering starting a Flickr pool for all the photography I do. It might also inspire me to get a better camera and use it. All these pictures were taken with my phone-- which is a fairly adequate camera, but I have to take my gloves off to use the touch screen, and that sucks lemme tell you. Especially when I reached the point where it wouldn't respond anymore. I don't know if my fingers got too cold, the phone was too cold, or what.

I'm the laziest person in the world and I kind of want a camera I don't need special accessories to accommodate -- like SD card readers or whatever. You wouldn't happen to know if this is a pipe dream or not, would you?
