teleidoplex told me about #pitmad, wherein you pitch your manuscript in a tweet and if an agent or editor likes it, they'll favorite it.
...I had no idea it would be this fun. I like these more than my normal pitches! Hell, I am enjoying this more than tweeting in general! I'm sl_knapp for anyone who's curious.
Queen of Swans: Gay YA retelling of Swan Lake. Odette dresses up as a prince at a party and woos the sorcerer's daughter. #pitmad
Though let's be honest, the pitch for Swans has always been "lesbian Swan Lake!" and that's pretty much as far as I ever get when telling people about it. Never mind the adorable raven brothers or Odette's cadre of friends or Benno's saintly patience re: Siegfried's dumb romantic streak.
Then the pitches for Dragon of Aether, the first Morgan book:
"Newly unemployed dragonrider seeking dragon for fun and profit. #pitmad #fantasy"
"LOST: Dragon, 6,000 lbs, black w/ white mittenpaws. Answers to Thrace. Last seen fleeing life of dangerous heroics. #pitmad"
